How to Find Your Passion in 10 Minutes

This week we talk about one of my favorite subjects… finding your passion! Watch now!

VIDEO SUMMARY

I have made a number of videos on passion, and why finding your passion is important for business. And a lot of times people watch these videos and ask the question, “What if I do not know my passion?” If that sounds like you, you are in luck, because there are a lot of resources out there for you. There are books and courses that will walk you through step by step on how to find your passion. They are all good, and I recommend you do them. However, I wanted to share with you a tip on how you can skip spending all that time and money. I am going to share with you how to find your passion in 10 minutes.

First, let us talk about the problem a little more. Most people trying to figure out their passion fall into two groups. The first group struggles because they are not passionate about anything. This group is apathetic. When you talk to these people, they have a hard time getting excited about a job in general. They would rather sit on their couch all day. So it is a mental leap for them to think about being in a career they are passionate about. There is no career path that interests them. My message for this group is to give them encouragement. There is a job out there that you will find interesting, and engaging, and brings value to other people’s lives.

The second group struggles because they are passionate about too many things. They find so many things interesting that they just cannot choose. My message to this group is to realize the enormous benefits you will get in life if you can focus on one thing. I am betting if you were forced to choose a career at gunpoint, that one choice would stand out above the others.

The interesting thing is that the solution for both groups is the same. The goal is to identify the one career path you are passionate about. What you are doing is choosing one thing you can build your life around. That one thing could be business, medicine, politics, computer programming, or something else. It is going to be different for everybody. When you take one of these classes about finding your passion, what you typically do is spend a lot of time going through all these different areas to identify what subjects pique your interest.

I am going to share my tip with you on finding your passion. If you are asking yourself the question “what is my passion?” you need to realize something very important. You already know the answer. You already know your passion. You just have not realized it yet. Once you understand this, it completely changes your approach. No matter where you are at in life, you have had a wide range of experiences that can help you with this. Even if you have just graduated high school, you have already been exposed to many different subjects and career paths. I guarantee that you have come across something that you found interesting. But you may not have realized it. You might have already come across your passion before you were ten years old.

The reason why people struggle with this, is because most people are bad listeners. We are bad at listening, especially to ourselves. So the solution to all of this is very simple. If you already know the answer, all you have to do is ask yourself the question, and then listen for the answer. So what you are going to do is sit somewhere for ten minutes. You are going to sit and listen for the answer to this question. Now I know it sounds a little crazy that I am asking you to have a conversation with yourself. But the reason why this works is your body remembers. When you have gone through your life, and you experience things you are passionate about, your body remembers that. Your body remembers when you have been excited or engaged. Those are going to be vivid memories. So when you ask yourself what you are passionate about, those memories are going to start popping up. So what you are doing is listening for the things that excite you. You are listening for the things that put a sparkle in your eye. Then it is just a matter of figuring out how to build a career around that.

Now if you sit there for 10 minutes, and the answer does not come to you, do not stress out. It is okay. It is possible that you are not very good at listening. But now that you have had some practice, I bet you will start to notice things in your life. You will start to notice things that excite you. And I bet you will have a breakthrough within a week. I recommend you try this. Finding your passion is something that can change your life and it only takes 10 minutes. What do you have to lose?
